To many it seems strange to have a survival plan or preparedness in the city. Goods and services are always available. To many survivalism is getting out the woods and back into the city. For many each year surviving in the city becomes a reality when some sort of natural disaster or other situation arises. Very quickly the city and urban environment can become a survival situation which should be prepared for.
For many flooding, mud slides, hurricanes, snow storms, and fires can turn normal city life into a bit of a mess for a few days and sometimes a few weeks. Most are good about getting insurance for these situations in case there is some property but do very little about being prepared to wait out the situation. There are services that can help you out in time of need, but depending on those the day you need it might not be the best plan.
Make sure that you have some basic supplies at home that can rely on if you were to be stuck inside for a few weeks or had to move on to another location because of the weather.
There is no need for an underground bunker, camouflage, or anything like that. Just keep about 30 days worth of food on hand along with some water and water purification. Also make sure you have proper clothing and blankets to be warm as if you didn’t have a reliable heat source.
Have a plan for everyone in the family for each type of disaster so that during the stressful time everyone can focus on the plan and not be panicking.
Think of about issues personal to you. If you are a diabetic, think about what you would do with your diabetic supplies during a time like this.
Don’t be one of the families whose plan is sit and wait for help. It’s responsible to start today and make sure that you can provide something for yourself if that situation ever happens.
